Ressam ve dekoratör Yakob Samancı’nın oğlu olan Aşil Samancı, önce babasının yanında ressam olarak çalıştı. Abdullah Biraderler’in atölyesinde fotoğrafçılık eğitimi aldı. Osmanlı Sarayı’nda fotoğrafçılık dersleri verdi. 4. dereceden Mecidiye Nişanı’na ve “Sultan’ın Fotoğrafçısı” unvanına sahiptir. Gülmez Kardeşler ile uzun bir süre devam eden ortaklığı oldu.
Achilles Samancı was the son of the Yakop Samancı who painter and decorator. He first worked as a painter with his father than learned photography at the workshop of Abdullah Brothers. He gave photography lessons at the Ottoman Palace and had the 4th-degree Mecidiye Medal and the title of “Sultan’s Photographer “. He has been a long-time partnership with Gülmez Brothers.
